Looking at the Windjammer fleet, it's hard to believe it all started with a $600 "Hangover." World War II had ended and I had finished my hitch in the Navy. With $600 pay in my pocket, I went to Miami to "paint the town red." I was a little too successful.

The next morning I awoke with a head-splitting hangover in a vaguely familiar 19 foot sloop. During the night I had purchased her with my $600. With a few swigs of scotch left in the bottle I christened her "Hangover". Little did I realize that she was to become the first vessel in the world's largest fleet of tall ships.

The Windjammer dream was far from reality. I'd work construction during the week and take my friends to Bimini and Grand Cay on weekends. After footing the bill for too long, I laid down the law and started charging enough to cover food and grog.

As the demand for sailing vacations grew so did the
size of the Windjammer fleet. Today, Windjammer is the result of over
50 years of hard work. Escape to an adventure that will satisfy the
pirate in your soul.
