The technology infrastructure developed onboard the Century and new Galaxy, Celebrity's
two new luxury cruise vessels, includes an innovative, in-cabin entertainment and information center that enables
passengers to "test drive" one of the world's first operating interactive television systems. Installed
and operating on all of Century's 875 and Galaxy's 935 Staterooms, the Celebrity Network will allow guests to preview
shore excursions and purchase tickets, enjoy casino-style games, choose and book a spa appointment, view movies
on command, and even select the evening's dinner wine.
The Celebrity Network in Action
Each cabin contains a high tech vertical cabinet which includes a multo function
television and mini-bar. This interactive entertainment and information center also incorporates 14 television
channels.
At the touch of a button on the easy-to-use remote control, the interactive television system enables passengers
to:
- Receive updates about daily activities onboard ship
- Preview short videos of available shore excursions and purchase tickets for them right on the system
- Access information from the ship's navigational system to determine
the exact location of the ship, distance
to the next destination, and water temperature and depth.
- Order room service from an on-screen menu
- Select the evening's dinner wine from the onboard wine cellar
- Browse in a selection of "virtual shops" and make purchases from a wide selection of merchandize delivered
home following the cruise
- Choose a health, beauty or fitness treatment in the AquaSpa and book a preferred appointment time.
- Select special blockbuster, pay per view hit movies (and even preview special films) in addition to the first
run films shown at no charge on the ship's various television channels
- Play casino style games, charged to your cabin account
- Respond to passenger comment surveys and questionnaires
- Review shipboard account summaries
And for the comfort of international guests, all screens offer information in English, French, German, Italian,
and Spanish.
